Sri Chinmoy Cult, Kristin Cavallari, and OC Sucks Bowls

stupid OC bitches
I was sitting on my stoop in Berkeley last week when a woman walked by and told me I should find out who was running shit. She said the criminals make everyone do what they do. She said if I wanted to find out who was making me sit like a bump on a log there, drinking my coffee and reading the morning away, I should go to chinmoycult.com. She handed me a little scrap of paper with the address on it. There is no one home at chinmoycult.com.

But check this out. Wikipedia is all messed up about it. Lots of controversy.

I'd never heard about this cult if it is a cult. Crazy that that lady went crazy on me in front of my house, though. Thanks crazy lady! I wish I were still in Berkeley right now.

I am in Orange County right now. Orange County is one of those places in which it seems that all the people you encounter are int he same cult.
It isn't the worst place in the world, but it's pretty bad. They have pretty beaches and women and libraries. The beaches really are some of the loveliest in the world, the women are usually brain-dead, and the libraries don't have enough parking. Everyone drives here. The restaurants all want you to eat crap. Coffee costs more than anywhere on Earth. Traffic makes you want to kill yourself. You cannot escape the sound of engines. You can't walk anywhere. I miss Berkeley very much.

Some Stuff

Think About It!
I like this little banner.

I am officially sold out of the third issue of Sorry for Snake. Thanks to everyone who bought it for buying it.

I am also sold out of Dearest Children of the Revolution, I am Pleased to Announce my Resignation. A special edition of the chapbook will be out soon.

Also, also, also, Sara Mumolo's chapbook, Brain in a Vat, will be out soon.

Sorry for Snake 4 is out now. There's a contest to get a free copy. For details, email me. To buy one, you can go here.

Tonight is Clay's party. I will go to that. Tomorrow is the last Pegasus reading I know for sure will take place, so I will go to that, too. Sad. I am sad that the East Bay will suffer such a crushing blow with Clay's departure from Pegasus. I will have to start buying poetry online like everyone else I guess. Will Diesel pick up the slack?

I didn't sleep last night.

The sun lit the morning blue, and I realized it was a new day.

I spent the night writing things that have no value.

Jack Morgan Honored at Berkeley Tonight

It's early, and I am sure you all have reasons not to make it, but they are honoring me at the English lounge, 330 Wheeler, where I will read poetry and someone will read fiction, and there will be free wine and cheese and other stuff. You should come, but I understand if you don't.

Afterward, I am going to see Ariana Reines at the Holloway reading at Maude Fife at 315 Wheeler. Should be good.

The Scourge of Poetry.

Lately, I have had the feeling that the poetry world is currently at the lip of a wave. To be on the lip of a wave, to see the speed with which we are moving, fills me with elation. So much dynamic and interesting shit is going on. Poets all over are conversing and collaborating in a way that has not yet been fully explored. It seems like the community is finally getting used to the interweb and beginning to embrace it. Journals are everywhere at the moment. Who can keep up with all of the readings? Don't you want to go to all of them? It seems like there is so much going on that I am hustling just stay abreast of it all. It's exhilarating, really.

But where there's a game and players, there will be haters. The funny thing is, though, the Trainwreck Union is actually getting things done while they have to beg poets to submit.
