The Walking Dead

I've been readin "The Walking Dead" for a long time now. I enjoy it
very much. My wife likes it too. The tv show made from it will suck or
be utterly different. If they try to make it identical, it will blow.
But what can they change? The comic seems perfectly made.
Tv is so very rarely very good, I just can't imagine this thing
working out. They're zombies! They don't like vanilla-handed censors.
They Like killing ninety percent of the cast in one episode deep into
the story arc. They don't like to keep the audience in a weird limbo
like Lost and they hate surprise twist endings. There's only one
ending: everybody dies; mostly to rise again.
Your tv and the tv-watching public cannot handle this.
For some of the above reasons, all comic book-inspired movies suck in
one way or another. I want film makers to start backing away from
comics, a true American literary art. That will never happen though.
Is this a great country or what?

Can you trace your preference for zombie comic books rationally to whatever axioms have your approval, or is their popularity within certain circles enough to make that preference itself axiomatic?

I don't think that I have a preference for zombie comics, but I do like comics very much, and I love zombie movies. I'd even like to make a zombie film of my own some day.

I've liked the films for a long time as an exploitation genre, long before they became a giant meme that captured the imagination and adoration of the hoi poloi.

The marriage of the comic book with the zombie seems like a match made in heaven to me. It's a perfect mix, nearly. I don't think that zombies and TV will mix as well. YMMV

Yea Right... If were talking about the new series on AMC The Walking Dead, the show is AMAZING... Sunday nights Im scared to put my feet on the floor just incase something is under the bed or the couch! To this day my biggest fear is that one day ZOMBIES will walk the earth.... Yea, I know... Really Corny. But I love the show and it scares me speechless.

I've heard the show is quite good, but I've also heard that they've changed a lot, which I guess is good.

If they treat the show as its own thing and try not to live up to the comic, it just might continue to be great. I still haven't seen it, but I want to give it a shot. I'll probably wait until DVD.
