Darling Be Home Soon Acoustic Cover

Darling Be Home Soon by John Sebastian

Here's where I ruin that John Sebastian song everyone likes.

I think this song is usually sung much more upbeat than the words tell it to be. John Sebastian performed it on a lark at Woodstock, which I think is so cool. He just happened to be backstage and they needed an acoustic act, so he grabbed a guitar, took the scaffold, and happened to have Darling Be Home Soon in his head from his days with Lovin' Spoonful (they'd recently broken up).

He tells the whole story in this awesome book I love.

I enjoy the idea that all a person wants is to talk with his lover while she's away. I'm kind of going through this with someone right now. All I can really imagine is lying in bed and discussing and hatching adventures we can go on together.

I hope my interpretation conveys that feeling a little more than the original.

Laptop Hunt

sexy girl transitioning from one job to another in the sexiest way possible
Yesterday, I entered a transitional phase of life, leaving Nacho Daddy. This is for the best. I have a lot planned for 2018, and new opportunities are already presenting themselves.

I'll write a bit more about my experience going into this transition because I think there's a decent story there, but I first have to find a new laptop.

And since I've been trying to get my Amazon Affiliate game stronger, I figured I'd try something new: Native Ads. So, buried in this post is a chunk of code that should give me suggestions on which laptop to buy. My plan is to click on that ad and let it guide me to my Amazon purchase.

I basically just need something to help keep me creative. I need a laptop that has a camera so I can continue ruining songs with my FG820 blue sunset guitar and meteor mic. Starting and maintaining a podcast is one of my resolutions for 2018, so I need to get that going ASAP. Anyway, I need a Laptop... and it has to be blue.

If you're wondering about the photo to the left, I googled "sexy girl transitioning from one job to another in the sexiest way possible" and that's what came up with a link to this sexy article »

Pixies and Pump Up the Volume

When I was a kid, a movie came out called Pump Up the Volume. It was the best movie Christian Slater made, and it really spoke to me. I loved it so much, I had to have the soundtrack on this new thing called a CD. My mom must have bought it for me.

That CD came in one of those really huge cardboard boxes they were wrapped in in the beginning. And I put that CD into my little boombox in my room and maybe my whole life changed at that point.

I was already very much into music. I loved the Beastie Boys and Run D MC, and Guns n' Roses was definitely a mainstay in my ears. But I had never heard of Concrete Blonde, Leonard Cohen, the Pixies, or Cowboy Junkies. My life would be shit if I never heard of them, and I have this movie to thank.

My musical taste is broad. I often wonder how it got that way. It seems that I have one of those minds that isn't satisfied with the mere consumption of anything. I have to know everything's origin. I want to compare what's out now to what came before. I want to hear what's next because I'm so familiar with the tools and inspirations that will have brought the artists of the future to those brand-new things.

People who are older than I am are amazed I know their generation's music. I've read books about music to make that happen. I've checked CD's and records out of libraries. I've burned lamps to their ends in deep conversations with people who intensely love this or that genre or artist. I'm a vulture of culture and I'm voracious. I'm weird and intense like that.
