Lately. Happy to Report

Lately, I've been looking for houses and jobs and helping move a restaurant and plan a wedding.

The wedding is on June 26th, and the engagement party is this weekend. Luckily, my fiance is a master at planning these types of events, so I'm not actually doing much more than designing invitations and helping register and things like that. It's going to be a totally vegan wedding party on a field that's part of a cattle farm. We're hoping to share the space with some fireflies, and we'll have one of the oldest carousels in operation running next to the stage, which will feature the talents of some very good musicians. The vegan component ensures everyone that they will not get food poisoning at an outdoor wedding in the middle of the summer. It also makes our first day together as husband and wife cruelty free, and I like the symbolism of that.

The Darjeeling Café move was written up on the front page of the Staunton News Leader. My fiance looked very pretty in the picture. We're really excited about the move. We're waiting to really go full-steam ahead on it, but when we do, expect downtown Staunton to be a little more awesome than it already is. The community is really behind us, so we're touched. This town has a lot in it to love.

I've officially given notice at the American Shakespeare Center. I'm going to miss it, but I'm trying to start something that resembles a young family, so it's time to stop working for non-profits, and I'd like a job that offers a little more to learn and grow. It was an extremely difficult decision... but timing is everything. The café needs help, and I'm hoping to work on building that while looking for a new position at a for-profit business.

Yesterday, we found a house that really fits us. I don't want to fall in love too quickly with it because real estate games can be heart-breaking, but it's pretty fantastic. It's a small house on a big lot, and it's walking distance to the café. Mary and I are quite excited about it and everything else.

All good things for now! Happy to report.

Thanks Adrian!
I love our little family! Except when Napoleon is a "bad dog."
